As part of this commitment, we recognize that one of the most essential skills for college, career, and life readiness is the ability to understand, navigate, and responsibly use artificial intelligence (AI).
While AI has existed for decades, recent advancements have rapidly expanded its role across education, business, healthcare, and nearly every sector of society. These changes are reshaping the skills students need to succeed, including critical thinking, problem solving, communication, creativity, ethical reasoning, and digital citizenship.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is Generative AI?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to systems designed to complete specific tasks and has existed for many years. Your smartphone’s facial recognition, virtual assistants like Alexa and Siri, and social media algorithms all use AI. Generative AI (GenAI), however, is a newer technology that generates original content—including text, images, and music—by learning from existing data. It enables the creation of innovative, customized educational materials that foster creativity and enhance learning.
What is the role of AI in GLPS classrooms?
Our approach to AI centers on responsible use, ethical decision-making, data privacy, and human-centered learning. At GLPS, AI will never replace the professional judgment of our educators, meaningful relationships, or high-quality instruction. Instead, when used purposefully, we believe that AI can serve as a powerful tool to amplify learning, creativity, and opportunity for all students.
What is the district’s stance on Data Privacy and Protection with AI?
Ensuring data privacy and security is paramount when using generative AI (GenAI) tools. To safeguard privacy, it is essential to avoid entering any personally identifiable information (PII) or confidential data into AI systems. This includes student and staff contact details, demographic information, and class rosters. By adhering to this guideline, we can use generative AI technologies effectively while protecting the integrity and confidentiality of personal information.
GLPS will continue to follow FERPA and COPPA compliance.
